Apple is finally making this process easier between accounts
Apple has announced a new tool this week that lets users move their media data and digital purchases between Apple accounts. The Cupertino-based tech giant this tool helps people who find it difficult to manage two accounts or who are utilising a legacy account because they have made purchases on it in the past.
Through this method, users will be able to remove their secondary Apple account and combine their data into a single account. Before beginning the migration procedure, users will need to make certain assurances.
A support page has been published by the tech giant that explains the eligibility requirements for the transfer, the prerequisites users must meet before the migration starts, and how to move data between accounts. It is important to note that users of Apple products have the option to transfer their accounts or not.
Furthermore, any payment methods linked to the secondary account will be moved to the primary Apple account and will take the place of any payment methods linked to the primary account if the user decides to migrate their secondary account. Apps, music, films, TV series, and books that have already been purchased will likewise be moved.
The primary Apple account will also receive the data from podcast libraries, Next Queue in the Apple TV app, social profiles, music libraries, and memberships that are currently active. The music data will not be transferred if the primary account contains a music library. This feature is not accessible to users in India, the United Kingdom, or the European Union.
Things To Remember
Before merging their Apple accounts, users should make sure of the following information. The primary Apple account will be the one registered with iCloud and has access to the majority of its capabilities, while the secondary account will be used exclusively for purchases and media.
Users should make sure that they have two separate accounts on their devices, that the other account isn’t being used for purchase sharing, and that it is not a member of another family-sharing group. Along with making sure both accounts are configured to the same country and region, users will also need to enable two-factor authentication in both accounts.
Check the process of moving digital purchases between Apple accounts:
– Open the iPhone or iPad’s Settings app.
– After tapping your name, select Media & Purchases.
– Select View Account, then, when requested, sign in.
– To access Migrate Purchases, scroll down and tap on it.
– Complete the purchase migration to the primary Apple account by following the instructions on the screen.
– The notification “Purchases Have Been Migrated” will appear once everything is finished. An email confirmation will also be sent to the email addresses linked to both accounts.
– Log out of the secondary account and then use the primary Apple account to log in
There should also be a 15-day lapse since the last purchase and no balance left in the secondary Apple account. The secondary account can no longer be utilised for media or purchases after the migration is complete. Nevertheless, users can reverse their migration.
