Hot air balloons have been a defining feature of Bristol’s skyline for nearly 60 years.
The city is the birthplace of the modern hot air balloon, dating back to 1967 when the Bristol Belle was built and flown in the area.
Over the years, many weird and wonderfully shaped balloons have graced the skies – some of which have made regular appearances at balloon festivals in the UK and around the world.
With the 48th edition of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta returning from 7-9 August, here is a roundup of some of the most wacky shapes.
