Oppo has used the alert slider on its recent phones and soon we could see it replaced with the action button.

Oppo could use the iPhone 16-like action button in the future models.
Oppo is planning for life after the alert slider, which might also become a reality with OnePlus in the near future. The next Oppo flagship phone is likely to show us the new direction and we might see the company offer one of the new Apple iPhone features.
Yes, the alert slider on the Oppo/OnePlus phone could give way for an action button that made its debut with the iPhone 15 Pro model last year. We have liked the alert slider on the OnePlus phones for years which has been available with the recent Oppo phones as well.
But it seems the future is going to see more buttons added to the devices and this rumoured upgrade could go official with the Find X8 Ultra launching in the next few months. The details about this change come via a reliable tipster from China, so the interest has definitely peaked.
Action Button Goes Big
The tipster claims Oppo will bring this new button which will be customisable. So, you can use it to open the camera app, or start the flashlight or even activate ChatGPT for that matter. Is there a definite use case for this button?
It is too early to make a strong verdict on that but we are hoping this is not another Apple-first move that every other brand decides to follow without having a clear identity for this change.
After all, the alert slider had a clear purpose, it allowed you to quickly switch from ring to vibrate or silent. The action button will surely offer more options but will it make a difference for users, only time will tell.
In other Oppo news, the company is bringing its next foldable device, Find N5 to the market this month on February 20. The model will be unveiled in China and eventually come to global markets as the OnePlus Open 2 version which will also bring its own level of excitement for buyers.
