YouTube videos fetch millions of views for popular channels but what happens if the content is deleted and not searchable anymore?

The stand-up comedian deleted the videos of the India’s Got Latent playlist
Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia have been making the headlines for controversial reasons this whole week. These YouTubers have made their name by interviewing personalities and celebrities. But the recent episode has forced Raina to delete all his videos from the India’s Got Latent YouTube channel.
Raina even confirmed that everything that has been happening has been “too much for me to handle” and all ‘India’s Got Latent’ videos were removed from his channel. Raina said his only objective was to make people laugh and said he would fully cooperate with all agencies in the investigation process.
Getting Rid Of It
So, now that Raina has deleted all these videos from YouTube, what happens to the episodes on his channel and what about all the money the YouTuber had made from the millions of viewers consuming the content?
Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all Indias Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly.…— Samay Raina (@ReheSamay) February 12, 2025
YouTube doesn’t make it clear about its self-deletion policies but we managed to find the crux of the matter to get some answers. YouTube says, if you delete your videos, which Raina did with the India’s Got Latent playlist, they will not show up on his channel anymore which is the obvious action.
By removing just the particular playlist, Raina has made sure the overall visibility of the channel doesn’t get affected but people won’t see the India’s Got Latent videos even if they search for it on the platform. If he had deleted all the videos from the channel, that would have severely hampered his visibility on YouTube.
Show Me The Money
Now that we have helped you understand the situation with Samay Raina’s channel and the deleted videos, it is time to touch upon the next big topic, the money made from the millions of views. What happens to them?
The platform says any money you’ve already earned and is already there in your bank account that does not go anywhere, even if you delete the linked videos. However, there will be no earnings from the deleted videos in the future.
You could easily get the logic behind this policy. After all, why would YouTube let Raina earn money from the videos that he voluntarily deleted from the platform. So that way, he has done the smart move by deleting the videos from that particular playlist rather than the whole channel which would have been worse.
The other main thing that people want to know from this episode is can YouTube delete videos or a channel if the account holder removes the videos themselves. Well, the platform has policies in place and it will act on content only if they violate the rules or possibly get summoned by the law agencies to remove the content.
