Samsung is reportedly working on the new generation smart ring dubbed, the Galaxy Ring 2, which is expected to be announced soon. Ahead of its official launch, several speculations about the new wearable device have been surfacing online. Reportedly, the South Korean tech giant has submitted a new patent with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) which indicates that the new smart ring might also manage other devices.

According to reports, the patent suggests that the company is working to expand its smart ring capabilities. It included descriptions and diagrams that showcase how the device can be used to wirelessly communicate with linked devices such as a laptop or a tablet. This suggests that the future Galaxy Ring may support seamless interaction across several screens.

The patented design highlights the smart ring’s ability to seamlessly share content from one display to another. This feature has the potential to transform how consumers manage their digital environments by allowing for more intuitive device control.

How It Might Work

As shown in the patent, the connected devices should use their cameras to detect the ring’s movement and convert it into a movement across the digital surface.

The Galaxy Ring 2 is expected to come with several significant features including accurate health data sensors, capable of providing improved fitness and wellness tracking compared to the previous generation. In addition to this, the forthcoming device might be equipped with AI functionalities and offer at least seven days of usage.

The wearable device was earlier speculated to be released alongside the Galaxy S25 series at the Galaxy event last month but that didn’t happen. And it is now likely to be announced along with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 models.

The first generation Galaxy Ring was released last year in 9 different sizes, designed to track everyday wellness and came with gesture controls. Packed with Galaxy AI features, the device is currently priced at Rs 38,999 and is available to purchase on the company’s official website.
