The AI battle continues in full swing and we have another major company looking to spread its wings and garner a big user base in this arena. TikTok parent company ByteDance has announced its new OmniHuman-1 AI tool that has the power to create life-life videos out of a single image.

You can basically see this AI tool as a rival to OpenAI’s Sora or Google’s Veo which also uses the technology and creates videos using still images. But the TikTok owner goes one step further and is able to create these videos using a single image which shows the ability of the AI model and its processing power.

The New AI Tool In Town

Reports say ByteDance has trained the AI model with over 18,000 hours of video data consisting of humans with video, text and other gestures part of the content to help the AI tech realise and adapt to the different conditions.

AI tools like these generate excitement and concerns in equal measures. After all, the prospect of an AI tool which is freely available on the internet, able to create videos from photos can become a recipe for disaster which needs further policing from those involved in such applications.

TikTok’s parent company launching this AI tool will also be closely followed by the US government which is trying its best to get a company to buy the platform. President Donald Trump has already cited the prospect of Microsoft buying TikTok or setting up a sovereign fund to help it run within the country.

We are hoping ByteDance puts a lot of work into making its new AI tool safe and reliable before it becomes available to the public where you already have Sora and Veo in the market.
