SICK and Universal Robots have teamed up to launch a groundbreaking safety innovation — the ‘End of Arm Safeguard’ (EOAS) — revolutionizing how humans and collaborative robots (cobots) work together. This first-of-its-kind safety system enhances productivity while prioritizing workplace safety, making cobot integration smoother and safer.

Mounted directly onto the robot’s arm, the EOAS creates a dynamic protective field using a category two laser, moving seamlessly with the robot during tasks like pick and place, machine tending, and assembly. The device actively monitors a 400mm hazard range, instantly stopping the cobot if a human enters the safety zone — minimizing risks without compromising efficiency.

With a plug-and-play setup that installs in 15 minutes, the EOAS is engineered for effortless integration, automatically syncing with Universal Robots’ cobots through the dedicated EOAS URCap software. This system safeguards workers and optimizes workflows in industries ranging from food and beverage to pharmaceuticals.
