Danish design firm BIG unveiled a look at its design for the Sankt Lukas Hospice and Lukashuset, which is a palliative care center and hospice. This is located in Denmark and it is set to be constructed using wood and reclaimed brick materials. The main goal of the space is to create a tranquil setting by creating a village-like space.
The founder of BIG, Bjarke Ingels spoke about the design concept, noting “A hospice provides the framework for the final moments of a person’s life. It becomes our world before we depart. We have sought to create a peaceful and poetic environment where one can find tranquillity and an opportunity to immerse oneself in the world around us. We have chosen living materials with organic textures that age beautifully over time.”
