Project Hail Mary (2026)

Based on Andy Weir’s bestselling novel, Project Hail Mary follows Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), a middle school science teacher who wakes up aboard an interstellar spacecraft with no memory of who he is or how he got there. As his memory slowly returns, he realizes he’s humanity’s last hope, tasked with solving a global extinction event.

Alone in deep space, Grace must rely on his scientific knowledge and unconventional thinking to save Earth from extinction. However, an unexpected friendship with an alien named Rocky (James Ortiz) along the way means he may not have to face it entirely alone.

The Sheep Detectives (2026)

Every night, shepherd George (Hugh Jackman) reads detective novels aloud to his flock, assuming they can’t possibly understand a word. When George turns up dead under mysterious circumstances, his intelligent flock of sheep decides to investigate the crime using their collective observations to piece together clues.

The different sheep are voiced by an ensemble including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, and Patrick Stewart. Leaving their pasture for the first time, the flock navigates the confusing human world, uncovering secret rivalries and town mysteries to identify George’s murderer.

Swapped (2026)

On a small island within a flooded valley live the Pookoo, tiny woodland creatures who share their home with a species of majestic birds called Javans. When Pookoo Ollie (Michael B. Jordan) and Javan Ivy (Juno Temple) are magically swapped into each other’s bodies, the two sworn enemies are forced to team up just to survive. Their journey to reverse the swap soon uncovers a much bigger threat, one that could put not just their own species, but the entire valley they call home, in danger.

One Battle After Another (2025)

Nominated for 13 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, One Battle After Another begins with the rise and fall of revolutionary Perfidia Beverly Hills (Teyena Taylor), who leaves behind her partner Pat (Leonardo DiCaprio) and rats out her comrades. Years later, Pat lives as “Bob Ferguson,” a washed-up stoner raising his and Perfidia’s daughter, Willa (Chase Infiniti).

However, when Bob’s old enemy, Col. Lockjaw (Sean Penn), suspects Willa is his biological daughter, the Fergusons find themselves on the run from Lockjaw, making for a weird and wild journey as a father and daughter fight to reunite.

Predator: Badlands (2025)

From the director of Prey, Predator: Badlands follows Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi), a young Yautja who travels to the deadly planet Genna to hunt the unkillable Kalisk so he can return to his clan a fully-fledged predator. On Genna, Dek teams up with the damaged android Thia (Elle Fanning) to find the elusive alien.

However, a team of relentless androids from the Weyland-Yutani corporation (the company from the Alien franchise) is also looking for the Kalisk. This all culminates in an epic battle to see which hunter reigns supreme.

Novocaine (2025)

Nathan Caine (Jack Quaid) is a mild-mannered bank employee living with a rare condition that leaves him incapable of feeling physical pain. When Sherry (Amber Midthunder), the woman he’s falling for, is kidnapped during a violent bank heist, Nate turns his unusual condition into an unexpected advantage. Diving headfirst into a rescue mission he’s completely unequipped for, Nate pursues the criminals through a series of chaotic confrontations to rescue the hostages.

Final Destination Bloodlines (2025)

Final Destination Bloodlines opens in 1969 with Iris Campbell (Brec Bassinger) having a premonition that a high-rise restaurant will collapse, killing everyone inside. Though she averted this tragedy and saved several people, she only stalled Death’s plans for the living.

Cut to the present day, over 50 years later, and Iris’s granddaughter, Stefani (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), begins having nightmares about the tower collapse. She is then forced to confront her family’s troubled past in order to defend herself and her loved ones from Death’s wrath.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025)

Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) has had his fair share of baffling cases, but this one takes the cake. Wake Up Dead Man sees him investigating the murder of a priest (Josh Brolin) at his church, with many people suspecting another priest (Josh O’Connor) of committing the crime.

However, as the Knives Out movies have shown so far, nothing is ever as it seems in this franchise. Expect another mind-bending mystery as Blanc tries to find the murderer amongst his multiple suspects.

Sinners (2025)

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler unleashed one of the most inventive horror movies in recent years with this original film, which has received an extraordinary 16 Oscar nominations. Set in Jim Crow-era Mississippi, Sinners follows gangster twin brothers Smoke and Stack (Michael B. Jordan) as they try to open a juke joint in their hometown after working for Al Capone.

Though their opening night starts out well, the mystical music created by their guitarist cousin, Sammie (Miles Caton), attracts the attention of the vampire Remmick (Jack O’Connell). The party quickly turns into a massacre as Remmick turns the twins’ friends and loved ones into vampires, culminating in an epic battle between the living and the dead.

Weapons (2025)

One of 2025’s most successful horror movies, Weapons established writer-director Zach Cregger as one of the genre’s biggest new filmmakers. Weapons begins with 17 children from the same class walking out of their homes and disappearing into the night at 2:17 a.m.

After this bizarre and unexplainable tragedy, we follow the missing kids’ teacher (Julia Garner), her only remaining student (Cary Christopher), the father (Josh Brolin) of one of the missing kids, and a few other adults in their town as they become embroiled in this terrifying mystery unleashed by a supernatural evil (Amy Madigan).

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025)

After Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning saw the Entity going rogue, this sequel sees Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) continue his quest to find the rogue AI as it wreaks havoc worldwide. With allies new and old, Ethan travels across the globe in a race against time to find what he needs to gain control over the Entity before it unleashes nuclear Armageddon.

As usual, the franchise delivers plenty of mind-boggling stunts and heart-pounding suspense in this film. But with so much at stake and so many odds, The Final Reckoning proves to be Ethan’s most challenging mission yet.

Lilo & Stitch (2025)

Lilo & Stitch is one of the few movies in 2025 to cross the billion-dollar threshold at the box office. In this live-action remake of the 2002 animated classic, we follow Hawaiian Lilo Pelekaj (Maia Kealoha), a lonely girl living with her older sister Nani (Sydney Elizebeth Agudong).

In need of a friend, Lilo goes to an animal shelter and adopts Stitch, an alien that acts like a dog. Stitch was created to be a destructive force, but he softens his attitude thanks to Lilo’s kindness. To avoid social workers and government employees, Lilo and Stitch will have to rely on the one thing they’re both searching for: family.
