Cesar Ruiz misses practice, Kaden Elliss returns for Saints | Saints

VERSAILLES, France — Right guard Cesar Ruiz made the trip to Paris with his New Orleans Saints teammates, but he did not participate in practice Wednesday after suffering a knee injury in the Saints’ Week 5 game against the Giants.

Rookie Jeremiah Wright took Ruiz’s place against the Giants, playing 42 offensive snaps.

“This is a thing we’ll take day by day and see how this thing progresses as the week goes,” coach Kellen Moore said.

Linebacker Kaden Elliss returned to practice for the first time since he suffered a calf injury against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3.

In his three-game absence, the Saints allowed 31.7 points and 415 yards per game — well above their 27.7 points and 340.3 yards per game averages with Elliss in the lineup.

“Kaden’s obviously an important part of our defense,” Moore said. “… It was good to see him out there, and we’ll see how the rest of this week progresses.”

Cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry also practiced with the team Wednesday.

He missed most of the second half against the Giants with what Moore described as a migraine. Speaking to reporters after practice, McKinstry described it as a sinus issue that may have been related to the illness that had been running through the locker room the past few weeks.

“It just kind of settled in throughout the game, my head started hurting real bad and I lost a little vision in my eye from my headache,” McKinstry said. “So it was a decision to trust my brothers and let them go out there and do their thing.”
