LSU football is back at home, in search of a course-correcting win over Mississippi State.
Last week, coach Lane Kiffin’s Tigers lost a road matchup with Kentucky in overtime. It was their second loss in their last three Southeastern Conference games, and it likely put them just one more defeat away from falling outside of College Football Playoff contention entirely.
So, LSU needs to beat the Bulldogs — and then rattle off some more victories in the back half of its schedule.
Mississippi State is ranked higher in the polls than LSU. But the Tigers are still more than two-touchdown favorites to win because the Bulldogs’ two best, most important offensive players are battling injuries: quarterback Kamario Taylor and running back Fluff Bothwell.
