Five-star center Xavier Young commits to LSU for class of 2027

BATON ROUGE — Five-star center Xavier Young has committed to LSU, giving Will Wade and the Tigers the top recruiting class in the country, according to a report by ESPN.

Young, who plans to reclassify into the 2027 class, chose LSU over several other schools, including Tennessee, Maryland, Michigan and TCU.

Young previously met with LSU coaches Will Wade and Kim Mulkey, with Wade allegedly telling him that he has a chance to play in the NBA.

Due to Young only being 16, he will have to spend at least two years in college before becoming eligible for the NBA draft.

Young helped lead the U.S. under-17 national team to the gold medal at the FIBA U17 Men’s World Cup in Istanbul over the summer.

He is LSU’s third five-star prospect and fourth top-25 recruit in the 2027 class, joined by top-15 guards Reese Alston and King Gibson and four-star forward Ahmad Hudson.
